Fix a Dead Brush, Lag, and Missing Paint Screen

Check a hidden layer, the pipette, and VIP tools before you rejoin, and open WHAT'S NEW when you need the in-game update log.

Settings are the gear at the top right. You get sliders for music and sound effects, with mute buttons, plus Reduce Flashes, Name Tags, and WHAT'S NEW. Turning Name Tags off hides the names over other players on your screen only.

The brush will not paint

Check these in order:

  1. The selected layer may be hidden. An eye that is off means that layer takes no paint.
  2. The pipette may be on. Tap the face once, or tap the pipette again, to leave colour-pick mode.
  3. You may be holding a VIP tool without VIP. Rhinestones and lash clusters need VIP. Pick another product.
  4. If it still fails, leave and rejoin.

The paint screen or preview fails

A paint screen that never opens can happen when the device is low on memory. Rejoin. Closing other apps first helps on phones and tablets.

A Lookbook message that there is no preview right now means the 3D preview was skipped. Your saved looks are safe and still load.

Lag while painting

Very large brushes with Mirror on are the heaviest thing the Help Center names. Use a smaller brush, merge layers you are finished with, or lower graphics quality in the Roblox menu.

Updates and bug reports

The update log pops up once after each update. Open it again from Settings with WHAT'S NEW. Arrows next to the date show older updates. A public page that only shows a Roblox "Updated" date does not list those notes, so use WHAT'S NEW for the actual change list.

To report a bug, open Settings and copy the small line at the bottom of the panel. The Help Center's example looks like a version token plus a short code. Send that line on the game Discord with your device and what you were doing. A screenshot or a short clip helps. If the servers are restarting, you get a warning and a countdown. Finish the round. Freeplay work is saved for the next join.

Come back to painting tools after the brush works again.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Facecard: Makeup Showdown free?

Yes. The experience is free to play on Roblox. VIP, the More Layers pass, the 2x Earnings pass, cash packs, reaction packs, and the extra-time button are optional Robux purchases.

How do you win a round?

Paint the shared theme, then get the highest average star rating from the other players. A tie goes to the look with more votes. You have to have painted in that round to place.

Are there working codes right now?

The shop has a code button, and new codes are shared on the game Discord. No code string was published in the Help Center, and this wiki does not list guessed codes.

How many head bases are there?

The Help Center lists three free head bases: Classic, Aniya, and Mina. Your pick is remembered. Makeup, lashes, and piercings fit every base. Face shape is a separate Sculpt setting.

Does my makeup stay for the next round?

No. Every round starts on a clean bust. Only your chosen head base stays. Load a Sculpt preset if you want your saved face shape back, and load a Lookbook look in Freeplay rather than in a contest round.

Can I play on a phone?

Yes. On a phone or tablet, one finger on the face paints, a drag on the background turns the head, and a pinch zooms. Stamps are placed by holding, sliding, then lifting.
